2022 a year to celebrate

By Caroline Ayling

2022 was a busy year for the JAA team on the awards front. Our Marketing Director, Caroline Ayling, takes us through the highs from a year of celebrating our best work.

third sector’s comms agency of the year

I was proud as punch when the shortlist for Third Sector’s Excellence Awards came through. Our work for both RNIB and the DEC had been shortlisted for Marketing Campaign of the Year and Fundraising Campaign of the Year respectively. RNIB went on to win and whilst it was not be to for the DEC Ukraine appeal we felt like winners when the campaign achieved a Guinness World Record for the most amount raised in a 7 day period.

Really fantastic news for our clients and great recognition of our innovative media planning and rapid response to an emergency situation. Could anything top it off? Well as someone who is constantly banging the agency drum, yes…

To be presented Communications Agency of the Year is a brilliant reflection of our incredible team here at JAA. Our non-nonsense and gutsy approach to media planning and buying had delivered the UK’s first ever braille national newspaper front cover. We’d helped the RSPB account for 11.5million birds as part of the Big Garden Birdwatch and enabled the Woodland Trust to plant 64,000 trees. All of this whilst managing two Disaster Emergency Committee appeals for both the Afghanistan Crisis and Ukraine Humanitarian appeal.

The Drum Search Awards recognise the best in PPC and search and it was great to see Zach and Oli pick up the award for Cat’s Protection’s, eight precious weeks campaign. (You can read more about this campaign in the Our Work section).

NEWSWORKS GRAND PRIX

We topped the year off with the news that the RNIB Letter from Santa campaign had won not one but two gongs at the Newsworks awards. We’d started the year with Campaign’s Media Awards Total Communications Campaign gong and finished with a Grand Prix. Talk about ending the year with a bang!
